How do comic books affect readers? Before television existed, people were concerned about violence in comic books. Almost no research has specifically looked at how violence in comic books influences aggressive behavior. The few that have studied it have found mixed results. A few experiments suggest that reading violent comic books may influence how children react to people whose intentions are unclear. They might suspect that people are more dangerous than they really are because of what they've read in comic books.
